Working at UD
I had the opportunity to work at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (UDFJC) as a Software Developer and Software Developer Leader from 2013 to 2016. The UDFJC is the second most important higher education institution in Bogotá, with more than 24.000 students and 70 undergraduate and graduate programs.
Software Developer (2013-2015)
Developed as an individual project, reduced 100% hand-made standard public special retirement debt calculation rate, transforming three weeks of work to just 10 minutes. Unique in its type, at the time of its deployment in 2014, it was the only system offering a solution to this challenge in Colombia.
Tasks: User meeting and requirements understanding. Website design and implementation. Database architecture definition. Module architecture and development. PDF report module implemented. Meetings with final user, administrative and financial keyholders, presentation for the National Financial Control entity in Colombia.
Collaborators: Violeta Sosa-León, university financial department, university’s legal advisors.
Data analyst for the Financial department for the accounting department.
Tasks: Preparation of datasets for Excel scripting, data extraction from databases, SQL queries preparation and submission to the server administrators, implementation of SQL queries in the financial framework GEFAD.

System developed in the Sara framework (open-source framework created by and for the Universidad Distrital) offering web and PDF reports for the financial department.

University’s system for the students to manage their courses and registration. As part of the development team, I was in charge of fixing bugs and implementing urgent functionalities.
Software Developer Leader (2015-2016)
As development leader, I led meetings for architecture and web design for different projects at the IT department. Additionally, my mision was to mentor new coming developers and interns on the University’s software department practices and development environment. From this endevior, we developed POLUX (still live), a system to manage students' thesis and TITAN, a new financial division update.
We developed a completely new inventory system, reducing operating expenses by 55%, eliminated 85% of warehouse department paperwork. Our approach was involved from new items entry,registration, and assignment. Additionally, I contributed with a reporting system, which included the accounting for the new entries.
